South Fayette Township was officially established on March 16, 1842. Our 175th Birthday Bash was held on March 16, 2017. Throughout the year, the community will celebrate its 175th anniversary with a variety of special events.
175th Anniversary Historical Series
Celebrate South Fayette Township's 175th anniversary by learning about local history! The Tuesday, August 8, 2017, installment of the series features the history of the South Fayette Little Green Machine Marching Band and Majorettes, with featured speakers Ryan Wolf of the South Fayette Band Alumni Association and Marsha McFalls of the South Fayette Majorette Alumni Association. Also at the event, purchase 175th merchandise to help support the Historical Society of South Fayette Township.
The June 2017 installment featured the history of Boys Home, the former shelter and school for youth that operated from 1904 to 1972 near Oakdale in South Fayette Township. Charles Mills, a former employee, was the featured speaker.
The July 2017 program featured South Fayette Township's four volunteer fire departments. Thanks to featured speakers Bob Rank of Oak Ridge VFD, Keith Delaney of Sturgeon VFD, Steve Lower of South Fayette VFD and Phil Makowski of Fairview VFD.

Get your T-shirts ($20 each), hats ($25 each) and custom chocolate bars ($3 each) at township events, or at the municipal building weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Delivery is not available. Pay with cash or a check payable to South Fayette Township, or use a credit card in person. The township will donate 10% of the sale proceeds to the Historical Society of South Fayette Township.
