Senior Food Boxes

Adults age 60 and older who meet certain income guidelines may register to receive a free box of healthy, nonperishable foods once per month.

Distribution is 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the 4th Monday of each month (start date to be determined; holidays are rescheduled) at the South Fayette Township Building, 515 Millers Run Road 15064.

Who Qualifies?


To be eligible, you must:
  • Be age 60 or older
  • Have a gross income (income BEFORE Medicare, etc. deductions) that falls under the limits listed in the chart:

What Do I Get?


The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) box includes bottles of 100% juice, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats and stews, milk, cereal, peanut butter, and more. Each box also comes with two pounds of fresh American cheese.

Products are provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and distributed through the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The items are chosen to focus on seniors’ nutritional needs: high fiber, high protein, high calcium, low salt and low sugar.

How Do I Apply?


You must call ahead at 412-221-8700 and then apply IN PERSON at the South Fayette Township office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday (excluding holidays). You do NOT need to be a resident of South Fayette Township. You must bring:

  • I.D. (Driver's License, Birth Certificate or Passport)
  • Proof of Income (Social Security, Disability, Pension, Unemployment, Underemployment)
  • The person(s) planning to pick up the food (Applicant/Caretaker/Proxy)

Applicants must apply and be approved and registered before they can begin receiving food boxes.

What If I Can't Pick Up My Box?


Forms are available to register a caretaker or proxy. They must be registered to be permitted to pick up your food box.

When Can Boxes Be Picked Up?


Boxes may be picked up ONLY during the designated hours. Early or late pickups are NOT possible. Distributions that fall on a holiday will be rescheduled. NO deliveries are available.
