Only REQUESTS for facility reservations may be made through the website. Your reservation is NOT final until (1) Check payments are received for the rental fees and the security deposit and (2) Facility Rental Application is completed by the applicant and approved by the township. A request to hold a rental date will be honored for two (2) weeks only. Reservation requests must be made at least five (5) days in advance. Requests are accepted no sooner than one year in advance, to date. For example, a request for a reservation on Aug. 1, 2016, cannot be made until Aug. 1, 2015.

Bicycling, hiking, walking and running are welcome activities on this rail trail. Motorized vehicles are prohibited. About 2 miles of the Panhandle Trail are located in South Fayette Township, from about mile 4.5 to mile 6.5. The stretch lies between Oakdale and McDonald. South Fayette's Scotch Hill Road crossing, off Noblestown Road & Mill Street, has a parking lot, water fountain and bench. The Sturgeon station includes parking, permanent restrooms, a bulletin board, and a picnic shelter, with local private amenities such as Hunner's Restaurant and Lemon Tree Lounge.
