Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission representatives and contractors will be available to discuss future detours, blasting zones and additional construction-related information about the 55C1-2 section of the Southern Beltway.
The Trumbull Corporation in Pittsburgh was awarded the $37.7 million contract for this section. The work involves 3 million cubic yards of excavation and a 300-foot-long bridge to carry Hickory Grade Road over the Southern Beltway. A portion of Hickory Grade Road will be closed until Nov. 2019, with traffic detoured using Parks Road, Route 50 and Cecil-Henderson Road.
Coal Pit Run Road will be permanently closed, and the pavement will be removed where the road intersects with Bowman Road and Karmann Road.
Heavy equipment will be in operation on and around Parks Road, Hickory Grade Road, Route 50 and Bowman Road.

South Fayette Township residents are invited to attend free meetings of the Western PA Kidney Support Groups. The Pittsburgh West group usually meets on the second Sunday of each month; call group leader Mike Currin for details. Founded in 2010, the nonprofit group enables organ transplant recipients and candidates, people with chronic kidney disease and caregivers to meet, exchange useful information and share common experiences.
