South Fayette Township Parks & Recreation has received a $3,500 Play for Change grant for the purchase of two GameTime Expression Swings. The playground equipment allows an adult and a child (or two children) to swing and interact face-to-face and eye-to-eye to provide opportunities for multi-generational play and emotional bonding.
The Expression Swing has a bucket seat for children under five years old and a facing adult swing. The Expression Swing Universal includes an adult swing facing an adaptive seat that provides additional support for children ages 5 to 12 of all abilities. See details and a video here: https://www.gametime.com/expression.
The swings will be installed in Morgan Park this spring, and a ribbon-cutting event will be held (date to be announced). South Fayette Township was the only municipality to receive the grant, thanks to Parks & Recreation Director Paula Simmons, who applied after attending the “Play for Change” conference hosted by the Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative. Funds come from The Grable Foundation and The Benedum Foundation.
