[ARCHIVED] Traffic restrictions start March 22 at the Boyce-Mayview intersection

Traffic detours and restrictions will occur from March 22, 2021, until sometime in November for improvements to the intersection of Boyce and Mayview roads in South Fayette Township.

Road Closure 1 - Mayview Road, West Side (Cecil Side)

  • March 22 until late July
  • Detour (see map):
    • Georgetown Road
    • Morganza Road
    • Washington Pike
    • Boyce Road

Road Closure 2 - Boyce Road, West Side (Washington Pike Side)

  • June to August
  • Detour:
    • Georgetown Road
    • Morganza Road
    • Washington Pike
    • Washington Avenue
    • Bower Hill Road
    • McLaughlin Run Road
    • Lesnett Road
    • Mayview Road

Road Closures 3 and 4 - Boyce Road, East Side (Route 19 Side) and Mayview Road, East Side (Hastings Side)

  • Late summer through mid-October
  • Detour:
    • Boyce Road
    • Washington Pike
    • Washington Avenue
    • Bower Hill Road
    • McLaughlin Run Road
    • Lesnett Road or Route 19

Lane Restrictions - Throughout Intersection Area

  • Mid-October through November 2021
  • Daytime only
  • No full closures
  • Flaggers in place

Timelines

Timelines depend on weather and utility line relocations, which must be completed in conjunction with the intersection project.

About the Boyce-Mayview Project

  • Project by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to improve intersection and help control flooding
  • Contractor: Frank Gavlik & Sons, Inc.
  • Improvements include:
    • Intersection realignment
    • Additional turn lanes
    • Updated traffic signal hardware
    • Drainage improvements
    • Stream channel realignment
    • Culvert replacement
    • Other work

The project had been delayed due to funding shortages related to the coronavirus pandemic; however, following a government relief package, PennDOT was able to continue the work.

South Fayette Township is not involved in this work and is providing this notice as a courtesy.
