3-week full closure of Chartiers Street
Starting at 6 a.m. Mon. Oct. 24, 2022, Chartiers Street, between Washington Ave. and Dewey Ave. in Bridgeville, will be closed around-the-clock for three weeks until 5 a.m. Mon. Nov. 14.
Chartiers Street traffic will be detoured via Route 50, Station St., Dewey Ave, and Bank St.

Extended weekend closures
The first of three extended weekend closures of the Washington Pike/Avenue bridge over Chartiers Creek, at the border of Bridgeville and South Fayette, is expected to occur Nov. 10 to Nov. 14. The second could occur Nov. 17 to Nov. 21. The third is to be determined.
South Fayette is not involved in this project but will provide further updates as received from PennDOT or its contractors.
Single-lane closures have been occurring since January 2022 on Washington Pike, Chartiers Street and the Chartiers Bridge in South Fayette Township and Bridgeville Borough, weather permitting.
The project began in 2021 with utility relocation work and is anticipated to conclude in late 2022 or 2023.
During the 2022 construction season, the bridge will be closed for three extended weekends and an extended closure of Chartiers Street will be required. Information will be provided in advance of all closures.
The Joseph B. Fay Company is the prime contractor.
