South Fayette Township has declared a disaster emergency to assist victims of flooding that occurred April 11, 2024.
The declaration helps emergency personnel respond more quickly and efficiently and allows for possible county, state and/or federal disaster relief funds.
The township Emergency Management Coordinator and the volunteer fire departments in South Fayette are helping residents and businesses conduct preliminary flood damage assessments.
Flooding affected properties throughout South Fayette and in neighboring communities. The hardest hit areas in South Fayette were located along the Millers Run corridor, including homes and businesses on South Fayette Street, Blythe Road, Westbridge Drive, Cuddy Lane and Millers Run Road.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Services Code allows municipalities to declare a disaster emergency.
