Allegheny County Tree Recycling
- Allegheny County's annual Christmas tree recycling program is being held daily, from 8 AM to dusk, from now through Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at all nine county parks, including Settlers Cabin Park.
- Only live trees (non-artificial) are accepted. All lights, decorations, tinsel and stands must be removed from trees prior to drop-off. Trees will be mulched and used in the county parks.
WM Curbside Collection
Christmas trees may be placed at the curb with household trash for collection by WM only during the regularly scheduled monthly bulk-item collection. The next bulk-item collection days in South Fayette are Thurs. Jan. 15 and Fri. Jan. 16.
- Trees must be cut into 4-foot or smaller sections.
- The tree counts as one bulk item. (Two items are accepted per month, per household, on the designated bulk day.) One tree, no matter how many 4-foot sections, counts as one tree.
- Ensure your tree is not buried in snow, frozen to the ground, or bagged.
