[ARCHIVED] Washington Pike bridge work at Bursca Business Park occurring this fall and next spring

After a delay due to utility relocations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plans work on a $1.46 million bridge replacement project this fall and next spring, with the project being completed sometime next summer (2016).

Work is occurring on the bridge that carries Washington Pike over Coal Run, at the entrance to Bursca Business Park in South Fayette Township. The project includes bridge and road improvements, the addition of a left-turn lane into Bursca, and a new traffic signal.

Traffic will be maintained in both directions on the bridge, but the lanes will be narrowed. (One-lane, alternating traffic may occur during some overnight work.)

Trucks will be detoured during fall and spring road work. Trucks can access Bursca Business Park by using the following route:

From north of the bridge:
• From Washington Pike, take Route 50 west • Take I-79 southbound • Take the Southpointe/Hendersonville off-ramp (Exit 48) • At the end of the ramp, turn left onto South Pointe Boulevard • Turn left onto Morganza Road (Route 1009) • Morganza Road becomes Washington Pike (Route 3003) • End detour

All truck traffic exiting the Bursca Drive Business Park must turn left onto Washington Pike. Truck traffic can use the above listed detour route in reverse to access points north of the bridge.

Allison Park Contractors, Inc. is the prime contractor for PennDOT.
