Mitchell Street Closure begins Monday in South Fayette Township

Pittsburgh – PennDOT is announcing Mitchell Street in South Fayette Township, Allegheny County, will close to traffic on Monday, May 18 weather permitting.

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, May 18 Mitchell Street will close to traffic at the intersection of Route 50. The closure will occur for 35 consecutive calendar days. All traffic will be detoured. Motorists will use Millers Run Road (Route 3026) from Route 50 to access Mitchell Road.

The closure is part of the $19.04 million project Route 50 Improvement Project which includes roadway reconstruction, guiderail and barrier updates, drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades, debris removal, signing and pavement markings. Work will occur on Route 50 from Washington County to Millers Run Road.

The project will conclude in late October of 2015. Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc. is the prime contractor.

Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility
