South Fayette Township police officers Collin Griffith, Bryan Monyak and Chuck Handerhan have been honored for their response to a July situation involving a barricaded suspect.
Police Chief John Phoennik and the Board of Commissioners recognized the officers in October for their actions during the 6-hour standoff at a local motel. The officers coordinated their efforts with county, state and FBI personnel and contributed to the safe removal of a teenager from a dangerous situation.
"All three demonstrated the utmost valor and courage in handling the situations," Chief Phoennik said.
“Their training kicked in, and they handled a very difficult situation the way it should be handled.”
