South Fayette Township Library, 515 Millers Run Road, will remain closed until mid-September to be refurbished and reconfigured in an effort to make the facility more comfortable, clean and user-friendly.
The library has been closed in order to repair flooring that was damaged when a drain overflowed due to heavy rains on July 22. The closure will be extended to make further improvements.
“What started as a little repair project has turned into an amazing opportunity to renovate the library,” library director Cheryl Napsha said.
The library will feature new flooring, expanded seating and updated spaces for children, teens and adults, and the in-house materials will focus on new releases and popular materials.
During the closure, patrons are invited to use the nearby Bridgeville Public Library, 505 McMillen Street, where South Fayette library staff members are working.
Many South Fayette library programs will be held at the Bridgeville library, and South Fayette patrons are welcome to participate in Bridgeville library programs.
Please visit www.southfayettelibrary.org for updated program information or call 412-221-3737.
Materials may not be returned to the South Fayette library while it is closed. Instead, please return them to the Bridgeville library or to any library in the Allegheny County system. If you are unable to visit another library, your fines will be waived when you return late materials to the South Fayette library after it reopens.
Library materials ordered for pickup at South Fayette will be available at Bridgeville instead.
Ms. Napsha is director of both the South Fayette and Bridgeville libraries, under an agreement between the two communities’ library boards.
