[ARCHIVED] Boyce-Mayview intersection project planned for 2018

Boyce-Mayview Project Map 2018

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is planning a $2 million project to improve the intersection of Boyce and Mayview roads in South Fayette Township.

In 2018, work will include replacing a structurally deficient bridge on Mayview Road, adding turn lanes on Boyce and Mayview, widening shoulders to improve turning radius, updating traffic lights, raising and realigning some roadway and relocating part of a stream.

Benefits of the state-funded project will include minimizing sediment buildup and flooding, improving sight distance and reducing wait time at the intersection by about a third.

Boyce Road will remain open. Mayview Road likely will be closed at the intersection for most of the project, with the official detour on state roads using Georgetown Road, Morganza Road, Washington Pike and Chartiers Street.

Left-turn lanes will be added on both sections of Boyce Road.

On the southern leg of Mayview Road, a right-turn lane will be added for eastbound Boyce Road (toward Upper St. Clair).

PennDOT will provide additional width on the northern leg of Mayview for a future left-turn lane onto eastbound Boyce Road.
