Registration opens at 9 a.m. Weds. July 19 for the revamped Off-Leash Dog Zone at Fairview Park in South Fayette Township. All permits must be obtained IN PERSON at the township office, 515 Millers Run Road, South Fayette PA 15064, prior to entering the dog park.
Changes to the dog park include a new entrance location; an updated application, fee structure and permit procedure; and revised rules and regulations.
Permits are issued per person (not per dog) and are not transferable to any other person. Each approved dog owner and/or handler receives a photo ID/lanyard permit to wear in the dog park.
Dog park applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis at the township office during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday). Also, evening registrations will be taken from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tues. August 1 in the South Fayette Township Library Room, 515 Millers Run Road, South Fayette 15064.
The annual permit fee is $50 per household for South Fayette Township residents, or $100 per household for non-residents. The fees are per household, but every individual dog handler in each household must fill out a separate application and be issued a separate photo permit.
On July 12, the South Fayette Township Board of Commissioners approved Ordinance 6 of 2017, putting into effect updated rules, regulations and guidelines for the Off-Leash Dog Zone at Fairview Park, formerly known as the Dog Run-Free Zone.
