South Fayette Township’s 175th Anniversary Celebration is winner of a 2018 Renaissance Award from the Public Relations Society of America, Pittsburgh Chapter.
The award recognizes the yearlong celebration in 2017 for being a creative, innovative community relations program that positively impacted public perception and increased citizen awareness, interest and engagement.
South Fayette Township community development director Andrea Iglar (pictured) and recreation director Paula Simmons accepted the award during a ceremony at Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh on Jan. 25.
In cooperation with the Historical Society of South Fayette Township, and with participation from business sponsors, community groups and citizens, the township organized a variety of programs to commemorate the community’s 175th anniversary in 2017. Activities included the 175th Birthday Bash, the Summer Historical Speaker Series, the 175th Ceremony and Variety Show at Community Day, a South Fayette Connect magazine article series, the Buy-a-Brick campaign and more.
An impartial panel of judges from the PRSA chapter in Dallas, TX, selected the winners of the awards, which are given annually to communications and public relations professionals in the Pittsburgh region.
