[ARCHIVED] Two police officers promoted to sergeant in South Fayette

Police Sergeants with Township Commissioners

South Fayette Township police officers Jason Hensel and Bryan Monyak have been promoted to the rank of sergeant, effective Jan. 1. They were sworn in by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet Jan. 9 during the township Board of Commissioners meeting.

Police Chief John Phoennik pinned a sergeant's chevron insignia to each officer's collar. "I am confident that Jason and Bryan are going to continue our vision of moving forward in the township," he said.

Both officers completed the necessary civil service requirements and testing to attain the rank.

Sgt. Hensel has served the South Fayette Township Police Department since 2003. Sgt. Monyak, who joined the force in 2007, is a member of the regional Critical Incident Response Team.
