[ARCHIVED] Grant to purchase face-to-face playground swings

Parent and child using the Expression Swing Universal

South Fayette Township Parks & Recreation has received a $3,500 grant for two GameTime Expression Swings, playground equipment that lets an adult and a child (or two children) swing face-to-face, providing opportunities for multi-generational play and emotional bonding.

The Expression Swing has a bucket seat for children under five years old and a facing adult swing. The Expression Swing Universal includes an adult swing facing an adaptive seat that provides additional support for children ages 5 to 12 of all abilities. See details and a video here: https://www.gametime.com/expression.

The swings are being installed in Morgan Park, with a ribbon-cutting event on Weds. May 8 at 4 p.m.

South Fayette Township was the only municipality to receive the grant, thanks to Parks & Recreation Director Paula Willis, who applied after attending the “Play for Change” conference hosted by the Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative. Funds come from The Grable Foundation and The Benedum Foundation.
