Route 50 closures will occur from May 28 to June 28 in South Fayette Township as workers erect beams across the four-lane state road as part of the Southern Beltway project.
Route 50 will be completely closed overnight, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., in both directions between the intersections of Millers Run Road/Route 978 and Cecil-Henderson Road (see map of closure area). The official detour uses the South Fayette/Bridgeville interchange of Interstate 79, the Canonsburg interchange of Interstate 79 and Route 980.
During daytime hours, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., one lane in both the eastbound and westbound directions will remain open to traffic. Please use caution and expect delays.
Beaver Excavating is performing the work as part of an $87 million contract with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
