Short traffic stoppages will occur on Thoms Run Road in Collier, just outside the South Fayette border, starting at 7 a.m. Fri. May 1. Road work had been interrupted due to the COVID-19 crisis but may resume under the state health department’s strict safety measures.

During paving and repairs, short traffic stoppages will occur from Forsythe Road to 600 feet west of Dutch Hill Road, according to Allegheny County.

Road work and stoppages also will occur on Painters Run Road, between Bower Hill Road and Cedar Boulevard, in Mt. Lebanon, Scott and Upper St. Clair.

Later this year, additional work will require closures. Allegheny County Public Works will announce details and start dates dates as they near.

Work had begun in March, but contractor Northeast Paving had shut down its in-person operations in compliance with Gov. Tom Wolf’s order that all non-life-sustaining businesses close their physical locations to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Starting May 1, the construction industry in Pennsylvania is permitted to conduct in-person operations if they strictly adhere to the safety measures issued by state Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine.
