The cautionary ‘yellow’ phase of the state’s COVID-19 reopening process starts Fri. May 15 in South Fayette Township and Allegheny County.
The yellow phase lifts the stay-at-home order and allows the limited reopening of businesses, while limiting gatherings to 25 people, maintaining at least 6 feet of social distance, wearing masks, practicing cleanliness and maintaining other precautions.
The 3-phase reopening process issued by the Office of Gov. Tom Wolf includes red, yellow and green phases before operations return to normal. Public and private organizations, including businesses and homeowner associations, should follow these guidelines.

TOWNSHIP SERVICES
The South Fayette Township Municipal Building, including the township offices, senior center, library, meeting rooms and police station, 515 Millers Run Road, remains physically closed to the public.
Township services are available via phone (412-221-8700), email, U.S. mail, fax (412-221-7798) and web.

TRASH AND RECYCLING

LIBRARY
The South Fayette Township Library continues to operate virtual programs and lend digital materials. The state and county library systems will provide guidelines on how local libraries should approach the reopening process. Find updates on the library website.
MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY (Dye Tests, Sewage Bills)
The Municipal Authority building, 900 Presto-Sygan Road, remains closed to the public, but services remain available through phone (412-257-5100), email, U.S. mail, fax and web. A payment dropbox is available outside.
PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY
Closed, canceled or prohibited:
- Entertainment venues (indoor and outdoor)
- Events and activities organized by the township
- Fairs, concerts
- Gatherings of more than 25 people (even if 6 feet apart)
- Gyms/fitness centers
- Locker rooms, showers
- Meeting or banquet rooms
- Organized athletics
- Pavilions
- Playgrounds
- Restrooms (indoor)
- Schools
- Senior centers
- Summer camps (including Summer Playground Camp)
- Swimming pools/aquatic facilities (indoor and outdoor)
- Tennis and basketball courts
Open:
- Farmers markets (with vendors at least 10 feet apart, and patrons observing physical distancing. Everyone must wear gloves and masks. One customer/family served at a time.)
- Golf courses (with touchless golf guidelines and physical distancing)
- Portable outdoor restrooms (township cannot guarantee their sanitation; please use caution and use hand sanitizer)
- Trails and green spaces (with 6 to 15 feet of physical distancing)
BUSINESS
All businesses with in-person operations must follow state-issued safety guidance.
- In-person retail allowed; curbside and delivery preferred
- Restaurants and bars limited to takeout, curbside and delivery
- Child care centers open with worker and building safety measures
- Remote work by employees must continue when possible
- Personal care services (such as gyms, spas, hair salons, nail salons, massage therapy) and entertainment venues (such as casinos, theaters) remain closed
To help protect public health, South Fayette Township follows state-issued orders and guidance, as well as recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Allegheny County Health Department.
