[ARCHIVED] Traffic restrictions expected on Mayview and Boyce roads for gas line project

Map of Columbia Gas Project Area on Boyce and Mayview Roads 2020

Lane restrictions and minor delays will occur on Mayview Road and Boyce Road in South Fayette Township from November 2020 to spring 2021 for a natural gas line replacement project, Columbia Gas has announced.

  • Starting the week of Nov. 16 and continuing through the end of November, temporary lane restrictions are expected on Mayview Road, around the intersection with Boyce Road, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays for preparatory work, weather permitting.
  • From early December until spring 2021, crews will relocate pressure regulators and replace about 5,600 feet of pipeline on Boyce and Mayview roads weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

Flaggers and police officers will be in place for traffic control. No full road closures or detours are anticipated for the Columbia Gas project. Please slow down and use caution in the work zones.

The gas company is conducting the work in advance of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s project to prevent flooding and improve the intersection at Boyce and Mayview roads.

The project had been scheduled to start in March 2021, and then was delayed due to funding shortages related to the coronavirus pandemic. However, following a government stimulus package, PennDOT put the project back on the schedule and sought bids in January 2021.

South Fayette Township is not involved in this work and is providing this information as a courtesy.
