South Fayette Township held a groundbreaking ceremony March 31 for a new municipal center and police station.

The project includes a 36,000-square-foot building with administrative offices, public meeting chambers and a police station on 10 acres at 323 Hickory Grade Road. Construction of the $16 million project starts this spring, with anticipated completion in summer 2023.

The ceremony included remarks from members of the South Fayette Township Board of Commissioners: President Gwen A. Rodi, Vice President Rebecca Sray, Keith Dernosek, Joseph Horowitz and Lisa Malosh.

Other speakers included Township Manager John M. Barrett, Police Chief John Phoennik, State Rep. Jason Ortitay and State Sen. Devlin Robinson. Township staff, construction company representatives, township advisory board members and other community members attended the event.

The project architect is Kimmel Bogrette Architecture + Site.

Contractors for the project include:

  • DiMarco Construction Co. Inc.
  • Alex E. Paris Contracting Co. Inc.
  • R&B Mechanical Inc.
  • McCurley Houston Electric Inc.

Please note this building is separate from the planned community center, which will include a recreation facility and library on property next to the municipal center. The timeline for the community center construction is to be determined.
