Our students return to school on Monday, August 24, after a well-deserved, fun-filled summer. The start of classes will be accompanied by school buses and increased pedestrian traffic throughout South Fayette Township. It is vitally important for all of us to be aware of the increase in students walking to and from bus stops, before and after school hours.
To ensure the safety of our schoolchildren, police officers will conduct traffic enforcement in the school zones and on campus. I am asking that drivers observe and obey all parking restrictions on the school campus. Our police officers will be monitoring the school zone and campus for traffic violations for the safety of everyone.
Motorists, please be aware that overtaking a school bus while the red lights are activated is a violation of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, Section 3345, and has a fine of $250 and possible suspension of operating privileges. Our goal in South Fayette Township is to provide the safest environment possible for our residents. Please drive carefully!
